Is located about 19 kilometres or 12 miles southwest of Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Construction began in 2022 and is scheduled to begin operation on December 1, 2023.

History

As of April 2014, all projects rela … read moreted with the Tulum Airport were no longer available through official sites, and after the installation of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as president in 2018, emphasis was placed on the high speed trans-peninsula train, the Tren Maya.

In recent years, however, plans were reinstituted and the airport was scheduled to open in April 2024, with Viva Aerobus announced as the first carrier to operate.

Aeroméxico announced its intentions to launch flights to the United States and Canada, with its first destinations being Toronto, Chicago and San Francisco.

Delta Air Lines announced that it would launch nonstop flights from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport to the airport when international flights open in March 2024.

Following Delta, Spirit Airlines announced it would be adding two routes to TQO from Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

  1. When looking for charts, the correct ICAO code for this airport is MMTL, the IATA code TQO. Please check with Jeppesen and Wikipedia…
    MMTU designates Estacion Aeronaval at the coastline, IATA code TUY is outdated and currently not valid.

      1. No, MMTL as MMTU is only militairy. Thanks for changing it. The old icao is still in description but that’s just a minor detail. Cheers SP.
