Welcome to Emerald Airport, gateway to the Central Highlands region in Central Queensland, Australia by indie developer Rob Byrne.
The region is rich in minerals and agriculture, thriving on irrigation sourced from water storage on the Nogoa and Comet rivers. An irrigation channel intersects the RWY06 approach and hugs the southern perimeter of the airport. The area claims the largest sapphire-pr … read moreoducing fields in the Southern Hemisphere.
Emerald Airport is serviced by QANTAS and Alliance Airlines with routes to Brisbane and Rockhampton with regular commercial aircraft Embraer 190, Fokker 70, and Bombardier Q400. Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service B350s are regular visitors. For A320/B737 enthusiasts there is also a designated parking space.
The terminal building has been recreated with painstaking attention to detail, from structural steelwork and downpipes, air conditioning ducts, and window/door panels down to several works of local art featuring large Australian birds, Emu and Brolga, made from aircraft parts. Read more about these as you walk to the airside arrivals doors.
Features:
• Detailed Terminal exteriors and immersive interiors and surrounding buildings. Enter check-in on the landside of the terminal then proceed through security screening to your departure gate. The arrivals area is also modeled
• Detailed subtle terraforming across airport, aprons, runway, and drainage/irrigation channels
• Night Lighting of Terminal, RPT Aprons, and carpark
• Custom ground markings on aprons, runways, and carparks with custom light poles
• Custom runway, taxiway, and apron lights
• Crisp 15 cm Aerial Imagery
• Detailed “Helicentral” Helicopter Hangar and several localized custom static Helicopters
• Helicentral Landable Helipad on Truck
• GA Hangars, Fuel facilities, Backup generators, Fire Hydrant tanks, Carparks, Non-Directional Beacon Antenna models
• Working anemometers that respond to wind speed in automated weather stations
Testing has revealed several platform-level issues with MSFS 2024 that are outside of our control for the time being:
• Helicopters only spawn in Helipad 1 irrespective of the designated start Helipad
• Runway Start positions are displaced down the runway
• PAPI models don’t always appear, although PAPI lights work fine
• Many default objects (eg fences, clutter ) will display up close but at a distance will disappear in part of the whole
• Random AI aircraft behavior
