This airport was modeled based on my on-site photography at Wuxi Shuofang Airport in March 2025 and completed in August of the same year. As a combined military-civilian airport, the military area is only a background element in the scenery. Its appearance and layout are artistically processed entirely based on satellite images, involving no sensitive information.
Features:
• T1 and T2 terminals … read more modeled with a large number of on-site photos, with moderate interior details to restore real scenes.
• Rich ground details: PBR ground textures and custom stains, restoring the non-washable stains on the runway after long-term operation; ground lines, like real paint, have a reflective texture at night
• Innovative custom functions: In addition to standard features (custom approach lights, strobe lights, runway centerline lights, taxiway edge lights, runway exit lights, runway guard lights, field lighting, high-rise anti-collision strobe lights, taxiway signs, animated windsocks, dynamic ground vehicles, custom jet bridges), added: 180m industrial cooling towers with wind-direction-dependent water vapor; custom sounds (offline terminal boarding announcements, VIP room music, security prompts, elevator safety prompts); wind-speed-dependent “scare eyes” to deter birds (currently ineffective); bird repellers with automatic deterrent sounds; terminal interior lights dim to “sleep mode” from 23:00 to 05:00 daily; time-back function: terminal top fonts change from “Shuofang” to “Sunan Shuofang” if in-game time is set before January 1, 2023
• Total polygon count: 300,000-500,000. High count due to splitting large models into small ones with LOD optimization—fine models load when close, simple ones when far—ensuring performance and reducing rendering load
• Airport data made per Wuxi Airport specifications: runway gradient, ILS, and navigation stations match charts; PAPI angle 3°. Public airport, compatible with aircraft models using third-party data
