After 1 year from the date of this announcement (2027-08-18), SceneryAddons will stop providing MSFS 2020 addons. We feel like the “new” simulator has matured enough by now to be at least on par with MSFS 2020 to the point where we don’t see any reason to still support a 6 year old simulator.
Furthermore, our uploaded MSFS 2020 files are only getting 1/4 of the downloads compared to MSFS 2024 which tells us that most users have switched already. Also we are often times having trouble getting our hands on MSFS 2020 versions of addons since most people contributing them are on MSFS 2024.

What’s going to change right now?
Effective immediately, new MSFS 2020 addons are no longer being posted, only their MSFS 2024 versions. Unless one set of files of an addon are compatible for both simulators of course. Existing MSFS 2020 only addons are being kept updated if we are able to, until they’re removed after 2027-08-18 as described below.

Best practice to upgrade to MSFS 2024?
• Make sure you have a graphics card with at least 8GB VRAM (realistically speaking this was already a requirement when using 3rd party addons on MSFS 2020).
• If you have 6GB or less, we recommend upgrading to a card with at least 12GB VRAM for a much better experience, preferrably 16GB or more if you can afford to.
• If you own any marketplace addons (or the Premium or Premium/Deluxe version of MSFS 2020), make sure to purchase the same MSFS 2024 edition as MSFS 2020 to retain your purchased addons (Steam or Microsoft Store).
• Look through our alphabetically sorted Master List to download and install any addons that have a separate MSFS 2024 version while deleting already installed addons that are not compatible with MSFS 2024 (or no longer listed after 2027-08-18).
