Madeira Airport was opened on July 8 1964, with a runway of 1600 meters long. The Madeira archipelago now had new connections to the Portuguese mainland that until then were made by boat. The first landing of an aircraft in Madeira Island was in 1957 on an experimental track in Santa Catarina.
In 1972, given the inability of the small runway to handle large aircraft that was able to bring in a la … read morerge number of tourists, a runway extension was considered to make it possible to receive intercontinental flights. The following year, it opened a new terminal which was able to receive 500,000 passengers a year.
Between 1982 and 1986 the runway was extended to 1800 meters and proceeded the expansion of the aircraft parking platform. The extension was inaugurated on February 1, 1986. However, engineer António Tavares Segadães adapted from previous studies of Edgar Cardoso, planned a new expansion of the runway. On September 15 2000, the runway extension to 2781 meters was opened. This is partly built on a slab over the sea, based on 180 pillars. This new runway is qualified to receive large aircraft such as the Airbus 340 or Boeing 747, which was present at the opening of the runway as well as almost any type of civil aviation, or military.
The airport is the main gateway for tourists in the region, as well as postal mail, cargo and other essential services. It is an international airport that also serves domestic flights. On July 23, 2016, the Madeira International Airport was renamed Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport.

Hello all, I removed the default Madeira scenery from Asobo via the Content Manager but the terrain problem is still there. Any help?
I’ve removed it from my sim after landing on a stepped runway and its fixed now.
As mentioned in “Info” this airport conflicts with Asobo Studio LPMA airport. In order to fix terrain issues you need to remove default installed scenery of Madeira by Asobo via Content Manager.
Tested on AmSim scenery version 1.4.1 and MSFS2020 version 1.36.2.0. Works perfectly.

Crappy scenery, not compatible with any ai traffic, ai landing on rwy 5 will disappear on final, traffic departing from rwy 5 will takeoff from txwy C instead of backtracking to the start of the runway and so on…
Scenery is good, but they need to fix it to work better with AI traffic. Aircraft are landing here but not backtracking to the start off the runway needs to be fixed.
AMSIM is rubbish on sceneries, terrain is wrong again many trees next to the runway., I think they never been in Madeira I’m sure 100% . we need inibuilds 🙏

Uninstall the Asobo scenery from the content manager. Search for LPMA.

Finally LDIN, don’t know what took them so long. A serious LPMA scenery must have the runway 05 LDIN.
When I download and put this airport into community folder it doesn’t work just shows default airport even with Asobo one uninstalled. Anyone know a fix?
Terminal building looks good, performance is good as well but the terrain at/around the airport is not correct

The best airport in Microsoft flight simulator so far .. I just bought after test it .. unbelievable good but looking for new updates there still work can be done , great 👍

Unfortunately when i load the fly by wire a 320 neo in this add on (my home island) the game freezes, its really weird, if someone has a solution, please feel free to share! Hope aerosoft releases this scenario soon, their fsx version (madeira x) was really good and true to life!
