KPHX Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is a civil–military public airport 3 miles east of downtown Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is Arizona’s largest and busiest airport, and among the largest commercial airports in the United States; in 2021, PHX was the 8th-busiest airport in the United States and 11th-busiest in the world. The airport serves as a hub for America … read moren Airlines and a base for Southwest Airlines. American (including American Eagle operated by Skywest and Mesa) serve more passengers from PHX than any other carrier .

The airport is also home to the 161st Air Refueling Wing (161 ARW), an Air Mobility Command (AMC)–gained unit of the Arizona Air National Guard. The military enclave is known as the Goldwater Air National Guard Base. One of two flying units in the Arizona ANG, the 161 ARW currently flies the KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft. In addition to its domestic role as a National Guard unit, answering to the Governor of Arizona, the 161 ARW also performs both a stateside and overseas role as a USAF organization, supporting air refueling and air mobility missions worldwide.

  4. I got terrible Fps. Like 9-15. My system is a Rtx 3060ti ryzen 5 5600x 16 GB Ram. I dont have any problems at bigger airports like Frankfurt or Los Angeles with 2k resolution and High/ ultra settings. I did the last updates getting released but no difference.

    1. 16 gb ram way too low to handle msfs with detailed scenery. no matter any gpu you will get stutters. consider 32 or 64gb upgrade.

  5. Still a very bad peformance and fluid at 1.4, stutters still enough if you zoom around the tower.
Not useable for me at this stage..

  6. Significant frame drops around B gates, partially around C gates, and Runway 26. Needs optimizations and remove unnecessary high quality/resolution interior materials.

    1. Traitor J. Trump

Wrong. Without the high quality resolution interior materials, you might as well use the default airport. Upgrade from your potatoPC.

      1. Why? Most people dont use this sim to sit inside the terminals.. Majority of people get a flight sim to.. ya knoww.. fly an airplane? not sit in the terminal.

  7. no issues with frame rate hits like others have reported. However, i have trees littering the taxiways and runways. Any suggestions?

  8. Im getting bushes on the taxiway anyone have a fix? in the changelog it says they removed it but i installed latest version and its still there

  9. What can I say? Killer addon, working great, amazing fps and lots of details. I’m a sucker for these types of addons, chocked full of little surprises around every turn. I heard they took a while on this, and you can tell. I don’t really fly out of Phoenix that much, but wanted to start exploring that area between Arizona and New Mexico and this is the perfect home base to do so.

  10. Very well done with KPHX but FPS is suffering. Even with my semi-beefy machine, it’s going at like 10-15fps in some areas.

Maybe they can reduce resolutions for airport interiors, distant objects, and vehicles (do we really need high resolution static airport vehicles?), remove static humans (really don’t need for this).

    1. Weird, it’s running about 40+ but very steady here man. And I’m on a 5-year old computer and gfx card too lol

  11. Just saw this hit the market recently and downloaded it. I just moved to PHX from Flag and was hoping to be able to explore my new city via MSFS. Running on the “high end” setting with 50 frames per second here, no lags, stutters, tearing or gaps (minus my rough internet but I usually let everything load up for a minute or so when I spawn in). I did clear my rolling cache after the sim update and the update for this. Any issues with frames are almost definitely due to end-user PC issues, as we have mountains of videos and streams with this airport showing how smooth it runs. On a side note, I am loving how detailed the airport is, but more importantly, the area right outside of the airport (close to where I live). I’m having loads of fun with this airport, just enjoying the sights and sounds!

    1. Weird, no stutter or lags here and I’m running on the “high-end”setting. Did you clear your cache after the worldupdate and this airport’s update? I just watched a ton of streams with this from different people on the MSFS main discord and they all looked really smooth too, like mine.

  12. Very good frames for me with the new update! I have most of my settings to ultra and I’m getting 55-60fps with the pmdg. I would say for those who are suffering with fps it’s more PC related than anything with this sim. Gotta upgrade the rig or down the settings. Sucks to hear but unfortunately this sim is a resource eater! I understand other airports you might get good fps at but it all comes down to how they make the airport. I hope it all works out for all of you as this airport is much needed.

    1. Same here – I’m running this on the “high-end” setting and getting about 50 smooth frames with no lags or stutters. I watched the marathon discord stream of this airport in one of the MSFS discord voice flight rooms last night, and all looked just as smooth, and I know some people were flying on laptops, too! This is actually one of the best airport addons, and I suspect the sad attempt at a “smear campaign” is most likely from competing devs (with some regular end users sprinkled in). It’s just funny how the few people complaining say the same thing, yet won’t say anything when linked to videos and live streams of people with different computers using this airport with no issues lol. A regular person would probably say something like “yeah, I guess some people are loving it”, but literally all of the complainers here are just saying the same thing about frame rate impacts. Glad we have these comments, reddit, the forums and the MSFS streaming discord so most people see how excellent this airport is!

  13. Amazing frames, working like gangbusters and love that skytrain! Downloaded the updated from GTx to fix the minor stutters. Stellar product, SimPlaza!

      1. Huh? I’m not the person you responded to, but just saw this comment and wanted to say that I’m on a relatively older Asus gaming laptop here and get 50fps on the “high-end setting”. My system info is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz  2.59 GHz, 16G RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M

The issue with optimization and MSFS is pretty complex my friend, and not as straight forward as “better computer = better graphics”.

      1. Not the OP, but pretty sure they’re referring to a site similar to this, but it’s private/registration-only. That said, I know you didn’t ask for any links to there, so this isn’t breaking Rule 7 here lol. Just answering the question!

  14. Yeh whoever says they are getting good frames at PHX must be running ultra low settings. This thing is a goddamn slideshow, what a piece of junk scenery. Thank the lord for Simplaza who allows us to test these sceneries before wasting money.

    1. I’m on a pretty low-end computer and run this on medium (with some LOD distance increase) really nicely. It’s pretty smooth with some stutters around on the ground, but nothing too bad. I watched a few streams of people with laptops and other rigs running this on high.

      1. I’m on an old Asus gaming laptop (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz  2.59 GHz, 16G RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M) and getting about 50fps on “high-end” setting. When I spawn in, I give the computer a few minutes to load things as well. There were some guys streaming this airport on the MSFS discord last night, and all looked great (and all the people had totally different types of computers and laptops). I think this is a areat airport addition to the sim!

    2. Hi my computer is about 5 years old (and so is my gfx card lol) and I get about 40+ but very steady all around the airfield. Transitioning from ground to air has a few minor stutters, but I took some advice from another person here who said to let the scenery load up for a few minutes before taking off. It seems to help on my computer a little for sure. Otherwise it’s really steady and fast for me

  15. Is this Flightbeam copy-pasting messages about poor performance?)))))))) Everything flies like clockwork for me.

    1. No, my performance is absolutely trash I get like 9 FPS. I really want to do a flight at this airport but I am unable to. I think it’s my ass GPU (GTX 1650 Super). This really bums me out because I live here in Phoenix, and always wanted a good PHX for the sim. Tbh I really don’t give a crap on who makes the sceneries as long as it is good looking and have good performance. But just mentioning again that I think its my crappy GTX 1650s that is ruining this amazing scenery. (I am not Flightbeam btw) And also what GPU do you use currently?

      1. I have a 3080ti installed. I also watched a lot of videos on YouTube. None of them have performance issues. Nobody can show stuttering. SU12 runs even smoother.

      2. Huh? I have an older gaming laptop (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz  2.59 GHz, 16G RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M) and am getting about 45fps on “high-end” setting with some variation while taxiing, and about 55fps on “medium” setting with a bit more consistency lol.

      3. Wow, I’m running an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz  2.59 GHz, 16G RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M and am getting around 45-55fps on high-end setting, given some various slider work lol

    2. Same, it’s mostly the competing dev group who tried to jump on the rough frame rates, but they weren’t expecting the hotfix to come out like the same day, so they all have nothing really to post about anymore lol. It’s one of the most smooth addons we’ve got so far!

    1. Same. It’s a bit better after the update, but still they don’t really care about performance at all. There are enough examples of well optimized mega airports. Well, Flightbeam will do the job, pretty sure.

      1. I’m guessing it’s mostly Flightbeam crew posting the few “FPS KILLER!!!” comments, because this thing is silky as hell, and I’ve watched a ton of streams and videos with it in the past two days now – we’re talking multiple users, multiple various systems, some VR, some laptop, some high-end desktop, some cloud streams, etc… Lots of good data that just completely counters the few people here posting how it’s a stutter fest. My gut just tells me, yeah, there are probably some with some rough fps, but I’ve seen enough actual data with my own eyes with this addon from so many different people around the globe using it, that I’ll stick with that over a few minor people just shouting something glib and broad about fps lol

    2. Like butter here on a laptop mate. Did you see the people streaming this on high-end and ultra on the MSFS discord last night? All looked good as well. Most likely something with your system?

      1. That’s called lack of optimization. So on some systems it runs, and on some it doesn’t. LODs are faulty too at a first little check.

    3. Working great here, mid-range rig on its last few legs too lol. The copious forum posts, screenshots, reviews and videos on subs/fora/discord show pretty smooth performance across multiple systems and various users. These are actual videos and live streams, so I think we’ll go with actual proof of it being very smooth versus some rando online saying ” just trust me bro, it’s a fps killer lol”. Where do you stream or post your videos so we can see just how much of an “fps killer” it is?

      1. Its bad optimized. Simple as that. When it runs on some machines and on some it doesn’t, it is simply lazy optimized. EBBR for example, runs pretty smooth for me, while many others complain about it.

        1. But the thing is, there’s only screenshot and videos showing how good this is, with no videos or comparisons showing the “bad fps”. Without any evidence at this point, we have to assume those people were arguing in bad faith, and there were no fps issues.

        1. Not him, but I’m running an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz  2.59 GHz, 16G RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M and getting 45-50fps on various high-end settings (some custom slider work too).

  16. Thanks for the scenery and update v1.2, but there are still bushes on the north side of rwy 8-26 and taxiway A. They should release another update. Or can I remove them manually myself?

    1. Get the update mate – I have a gaming laptop and streamed this last night and it was smooth as silk, around 40 frames per second while taxiing and about 50 in the air. For me, it’s pure smooth beauty!

    2. This airport works great on my computer and many other people. I saw the videos online and wanted to check it out for myself even though I don’t really fly out of PHX. Loving this and ended up discovering some really cool places to fly around there because of it.

  17. I’m starting to think this collab is maybe a bad move from BMWorld. Every single one of these collab sceneries has bad FPS. Not blaming AMSIM but just a guessing game. I deleted Seattle and now i’m not using this neither because of very questionable and inconsistent performance.

    1. I checked and the difference with the default airport is 7 FPS. On my 2 year old computer I get 54 FPS.

      1. Same, pure butter here! Gaming on a laptop and getting ~50fps about 1kft above the field and about ~40fps while taxiing on the field.

  18. Whoa, was waiting for this to pop up and just spent about an hour with it. This is a really good airport, with great frames and it’s very smooth to taxi and fly around. I really enjoy watching the sky train while I taxi, too! I haven’t any stutters or any jagged edges anywhere!

  19. Definitely hit’s cpu harder than most with version 1.00. I heard there was a hotfix so I hope that shows up here soon.

  20. Ronald Gerald Price

Terminal 4 is missing the main part of the terminal as all i see is a garage. Terminal 4 at least a building should be right under the garage. I lived in PHX and the garage for terminal 4 is on top of the terminal. This will suffice until flightbeam but i know where ill invest for a realistic PHX airport.

    1. weird, it’s working really good for me and many people! Did you see there was an update within the last day or so? If so, did you download that? That may fix it because it’s really smooth over here!

    2. Im Hoping the Update will Fix that. Unless All of us will have to deal with 40fps with Stutter Party!!

  21. With the most recent update, this thing is like butter on my laptop. Getting about 40fps on the ground, and about 45-50fps in the air. However, the biggest thing is it’s just like butter.

      1. Yes, but the fps isn’t always necessarily better with those airports, so it’s always nice when a poster lets us know their thoughts. That’s kind of the point with comments here lol

  22. I have some terminals with the jetway bridge missing and a remote area with just the jetways and no building

    1. You need to update your GSX. Always do that with your third party airports it doesn’t do it for you. Update the “exclude 3rd party airports” section in the installer.

  23. Stusttuutttuuuttttututttutututerfest!!!!! Grand total of 9fps on landing when locked at 33fps the rest of the flight.

    1. Laptop player here, I averaged about 45fps. A mate was streaming last night and was getting better fps with this addon over the default Asobo airport.

    2. It’s probably just your Pc unfortunately! It seems to be working fine for everyone else. Maybe because you’ve probably got your settings on ultra

  24. Now that is how taxi lights need to look as default in the sim…. Oh how I wish this developer would make a replacement for the defaults… Great FPS from this airport as well.

  25. Thanks for this. I’m waiting for the Flightbeam version but this should serve its purpose well till then.
