Warsaw Chopin Airport (Polish: Lotnisko Chopina w Warszawie, Polish pronunciation: [lɔtˈɲiskɔ ʂɔpɛna]) (IATA: WAW, ICAO: EPWA) is an international airport in the Włochy district of Warsaw, Poland. It is Poland’s busiest airport with 18.9 million passengers in 2019, thus handling approximately 40% of the country’s total air passenger traffic. The airport is a central hub for LOT Polish Airlines as … read morewell as a base for Enter Air and Wizz Air.
Warsaw Chopin Airport covers 834 hectares (2,060 acres) of land and handles approximately 300 scheduled flights daily, including a substantial number of charters. London, Kyiv, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam are the busiest international connections, while Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk are the most popular domestic ones
Founded in 1934, the airport was previously known as Warsaw-Okecie Airport (Port lotniczy Warszawa-Okęcie) and bore the name of its Okęcie neighborhood throughout its history. It was renamed in honour of Polish composer and former Warsaw resident Frédéric Chopin in 2001. Despite the official change, “Okecie” (“Lotnisko Okęcie”) remains in popular and industry use, including air traffic and aerodrome references.
Features:
• Working VDGS Docking Systems
• Highly detailed Warsaw Chopin Airport (EPWA) scenery
• Terraforming for a realistic representation of the airport terrain PBR materials to build realistic glass and surfaces
• Custom aerial photo for the airport
• Detailed animated jetway models
• Many custom static vehicles and objects

none of the jetways worck, I have downloaded this multiple times now
i have a little problem that after i downloaded i dont have the terminal building if someone could help it would be awasome
try to reinstall or sum
Performance problems at this airport result from the developer applying large amounts of 8K and 4K texture layers with painted lines and markings to the textures of the runways and parking spaces. One texture on top of another, and a dozen or even several dozen textures on top of each other.
The number of these textures is as many as 40 (!) and they are located in the MaterialLibs directory (1.3GB!). These are textures placed either on the whole or on large surfaces of the airport, so in every place of the airport we will always see them all in full resolution, not their mipmaps. He also applies layers of textures with dirt, tire marks, gloss effects, etc.
With the release of the Drzewiecki Warsaw Landscape expansion, I once again tried to do something with this airport to make it flyable.
So, first I converted all textures with effects from 4k to 2k, 2k to 1K, etc. The size decreased by 4x or 2x depending on the texture format. I also reformatted textures with transparency from DXT5 to DXT1, if possible. Reducing their size twice, without loss of quality. When it didn’t help much. I reduced the size of all textures, not just those with effects, except those large textures with lines and markings for runways and parking spaces. Performance improved, but not significantly.
And only when I reduced the sizes of the textures I wrote about at the beginning from 8K to 4K and 4K to an intermediate value between 4K and 2K, and forced the conversion from the DXT5 to DXT1 format with dithering, the airport was fully playable, 35-40FPS. Previously I had below 25FPS. But the quality of the lane and line markings has now clearly deteriorated.
I don’t know why Flyhigh persistently uses this method in its additions, with dozens of large textures placed in multiple layers on the entire surface of the airport. He could apply all these textures to the airport, then merge them all and then add them as one or more as tiling.
h can you do a video or something to show how you have done it?
which program dl you use to downscale the texture?
EPWA V4.0.0 has been released
– Fix ILS error
– I optimize data
Don’t have a building. I have downloaded all correctly, i have custom taxi’s and runway’s but no building.
I had a similar issue… check your graphics settings.
Hope this helps!
but what do i change in the graphics settings?
Hi SimPlaza
When installing this version V 3.5.0, I’m getting in the Sim the default airport.
Then going back to the previous one V 2.2.0 , the scenery is correctly displayed… So I think the last version you have uploaded has an issue. Thank you
You’re missing files, test your archives, if broken redownload them, if not try extracting it again following the FAQ
Ok thx Appreciated your comments !
Why vdgs is not working?
Hi, a new update (3.5.0) has been released, any chance of uploading it here too?
Thanks for the update 🙂
I don’t really notice any performance improvement tbh. Still my worst performing scenery, even inibuilds klax & egll perform 10 times better than this.
still no holding up point before take off
I had this scenery and there is so many bugs mistakes and no gate numbers that it was huge improvment to delete it to see dafault beatifull scenery 🙂
This scenery suck so much
What? No it’s excellent. Comparable to iniBuilds and the likes
2.10 update pls
Ground textures are pretty bad, in addition I have been having a lot of stutters lately from this scenery.
Do you have massive fps drops? Average I’ve 40fps but when I land it it was only 10-12fps
same, shitty scenery
Still terraforming issues, at cargo area, ramps 61 62 & 63, as well as a bit on runway 15 and the taxiway near it.
Thanks for the update!
For me the scenery has the terraing bug on the runway and on the taxiway
Improvement of terrain quality? Joke??
Yeah I haven’t noticed much improvement either, a little bit higher textures on the ground, but still not great.
Otherwise it’s a nice airport tho
there is no hold up point
ILS RWY33 issue:
ILS Frequency set to 110.30, course 326 [correct]
Link to the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/7sMtaaB
Same problem for ILS RWY11
Legal MSFS Steam edition, newest to date.
+No elevation problems, even with freeware Warsaw City scenery.
+Nice performance, no FPS drops.
Had that issue too. It’s not the airport. Updating the MSFS database with latest navigraph solves the issue
Dosn’t work!
There is a big terrain bug
performance wise also
height problems with the taxiways. MEsh bug. That needs to be reworked.
Both two are great mods, but this one can’t be used along with freeware Warsaw city (on Flightsim.to). There is an altitude issue (at runway crossing, 2 m. high, more or less) and strange planes in the main apron. When Warsaw city is removed from community folder, the issue disappears.
ils seems to not be working for both runways
Confirmed, tried ILS 33, not working.
Runway 11 ILS is ok.
The ILS 33 works great with the PMDG 737-800, haven’t noticed any problems.
Can you try it on A310? I tried A310, C182, and it’s not working, no glide path, and approach path is far too right side.
I tried aswell and it doesen’t work
have same mate. i have updated data by navigraph and working only localizer, GS is freeze in the middle..
Thank you very much. Great.
Very heavy for fps, around 10, much like the KLAX of inibuilds.
Yes, and at least my test, had a plane crash in the middle of the runway, It looked more that the simulator was trying to load two planes on that spot at the same time.
Works good for me, little fps drop. GTX1660Ti, i5-8600k 4.7Ghz 16GB RAM
THANKS!! 🙂
YEEES! Thank you SimPlaza!
I can finally deliver the wok
Great
They need to bring those sizes down. Most devs now are trending that way and doing smart optimizations to shrink the size of their sceneries. It’s not 2020 anymore.
True
There’s not much ‘smart’ you can do if you make enormous building like airports. If you take a look at the directories you’ll notice most of the space is textures. Those are compressed already as DDS.
The only way to reduce the size is to use textures of a smaller size but there is only so much you can do if you don’t want to get real ugly textures are having a lot of repeating patterns in your textures which would be like 2010 all over again.
If you’re short on diskspace you can always use the Windows 10/11 option to make your addon folder a compressed one (right click > properties > advanced). It’s real time compression and you won’t notice any delay or so. Saves a lot of diskspace though. My addon folder is 2.06TB but currently takes 1.29TB on disk.
So although lots of files are already compressed as gltb/dds there’s still plenty of room. Saves me 700GB and that’s a lot of airports again 😉
When you have it compressed like this does it add a lot of loading time at startup? What’s your game load time with and without the compression?
I heard compression might affect performance even on modern SSDs, something i really don’t wanna mess with as i consider it sacred when it comes to MSFS lmao.
You don’t have to but on a normal SATA HDD it can be even faster since unpacking the files goes much faster than loading a bigger (uncompressed file). It doesn’t change anything of the files, I mean, you see them in the Windows Explorer like every other file.
I use it on a Kingston A2000 nvme, while it has to unpack files on the fly that’s a task the CPU can easily do since MSFS (and other things) only use a limited amount of CPU cores anyway.
I do for example the same with replay files of Assetto Corsa, they get so terribly big they really pack nice and they use 168GB instead of 451GB on my drive. And they don’t load any slower if you want to watch them.
If it was a 3rd party piece of software and not a feature of Windows I wouldn’t do it as well but since it’s part of Windows I do trust it just works. I mean, it’s not really magic, just a kind of real time compression, not the most efficient but it has to be really fast and it is
What I did when I decided to compress all addons I made a separate folder and copied the addons in like 20 directories at the time. That way I could easily see how long it took since first time you will do all addons it does really take a long time. Especially if you use MSFS Addon Linker you can easily try it with an extra folder and see if you think it does anything with your performance. I never noticed anything but there’s plenty to read about this online. Personally, I think it works pretty smart and uses processor time which is not used anyway.
I’m always a bit confused by the loading times of MSFS. Sometimes I activate loads of addons in an area and it’s really fast and sometimes I’ve way less addons active and it loads slow. But that was same when I didn’t use the compressed folders.
And besides for MSFS and AC I also use it on a drive with lots of 3D/gfx assets. At first I kept them all zipped which is basically pain every time you need something. Now I use the compression which doesn’t compress as good of course but I’ve all files immediately available without having to unzip first.
TL:DR; it’s really worth a try in my opinion, just try it on a small (extra) addon dir.
Wow, cool. Interesting, thanks
Finally EPWA is here !!! Thank you SimPlaza, you’re da best.
Time to delete the freeware, lol
LOL !!!
