We are excited to introduce you to our newest Indie – Mark “Milo” Taylor with his Orbx debut release of KMYL McCall Municipal Airport!
KMYL may seem familiar to some of you as it was previously released under Milo’s banner of MSX Creations. Under the expert mentorship of veteran Tim Harris, Milo has completely overhauled his original release in this stunning all new version with new custom librar … read morey objects, scenery placement and re-texturing.
KMYL McCall Municipal is well known to many as “The Gateway to the Backcountry.” This area of Idaho is considered as one of the most challenging areas in the world for backcountry pilots and has a high concentration of small airstrips, which will challenge even the most seasoned pilots.
KMYL is the home of the United States Fire Service Smokejumper Base which sees an array of different firefighting aircraft. Many are parked around the airport.
The airport caters for around 43,000 flights per year, ranging from small general aviation aircraft and due to the rising real estate market, many wealthy people have been attracted to the area, which brings many small to medium business jets.
In creating this scenery we have tried to make it as homely as possible to achieve a high level of immersion. So get out there and start flying backcountry, today!
Features:
• Realistic ground and apron texturing, which includes the recent apron resurfacing
• Realistic Night Lighting
• PBR texturing throughout
• Extensive level of detail work for superb performance
• Multiple custom static aircraft which includes Coulson 737 Fireliner, Neptune Bae 146, Erikson and HTS Skycranes, plus many native GA registrations
• Airport specific windsocks
• 160+ custom objects
• Many custom animations, which included wind-affected flags
• Hand placed vegetation
• Developed by Mark “Milo” Taylor

Great Sceneries!
So much better on the frames now. Smooth as butter for me since the update. Thanks, SP!
I use this a lot for Bush, thanks!
Glad the size is reduced
Well, FPS is good but stutters are often, I suspect the size comes from lack of proper format compression with their textures… I mean, they have a 4k normal map @21 megabytes, it’s a bit extreme for normal mapping. I can understand if it’s the actual texture itself, but a normal map and a single normal map for a 3 steps stair model and a pane of glass, each weighing in at 21 megs???!!! However, it is a nice looking airport with many custom models! Lets hope they update it when they learn how to change compression in Intel Texture Works.
Lots of love, but 10GB is just a joke, the scenery is unusable in this state for most people! Asobo and even Jorg himself told everyone “we see some sceneries of 7, 10 and more gigabytes in size and we can’t figure out how should such a thing have good performance without stutters or risk of crashing, etc.”.
These brutal sizes we see are simply the result of the devs just not following the rules for the optimization and good dev practice – and those are clearly and neatly laid out in the MSFS SDK.
Me myself with my soon-to-be 16y of age am not lazy and was more than capable of carefully reading ALL OF IT even tho I don’t dev. But some others nope. And then they come “mmm Asobo didn’t implement it yet, the sim limits us”….until some other dev who was not lazy to study the SDK with care sees that and sends an email and helps out…but why does it have to come to that, I dunno…
It’s 1.4GB for me.
Look at the comment date before you reply, this was for the previous version
Owned lol
sorry but much too heavy: inoperable for me
Nice but 10GB install size is too much for a small airfield
Becoming 11 Gigabytes… for a regional airport? ufff..
In support of this guy, the size of the airport doesn’t not matter. It’s the amount of created objects and details is that adds up. If the airport has 50 objects created, there is going to be a difference if there are 100 objects.
I do agree there is an amount of optimization to be done for people with Potato computers.
A fantastic scenery with tons of love put into it. I’m not disappointed I bought this when it was new
