You’ve been waiting for this one!
Melbourne International Airport is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Modelled by our Orbx team led by Sascha Normann, YMML has been meticulously recreated, from the intricacies of the terminals to the sprawling runways and taxiways.
Located to the northwest of Melbourne CBD and a stone’s throw away from Orbx HQ at Essendon Fields, YMML is the second busiest … read more airport in Australia. Taking over from Essendon in 1970 as the main airport for Melbourne, “Tulla” was expanded to 4 terminals with 68 gates in 2023 with just over 40 airlines operating from the airport. It is the gateway to the buzzing and contemporary city of Melbourne.
We are proud to bring our second-home to MSFS, with every detail of the airport being carefully crafted, as it captures the essence of the airport, with precise runway markings, accurately placed signage and faithfully replicated buildings.
Explore this part of the world down under and go domestic or international for your next destination. Fly over the Melbourne CBD enhanced by the city landmarks pack.
Not to be missed, this is a must have in your Orbx collection.
Features:
• Detailed depiction of YMML airport and immediate surroundings
• Realistic custom groundpoly reflecting layout as of May 2023
• PBR texturing throughout
• Photorealistic buildings throughout the airport including the iconic 2 towers, maintenance hangars and more
• Interior terminal modelling of departure lounges
• VDGS and custom traffic animations
• Meticulously hand-edited aerial imagery
• Custom taxiway signs and lighting
• Detailed recreation of Melbourne Jet Base with interior and static model of the restored DC-3, Kanana
• Densely placed custom-made GSE, vehicles and other apron clutter
• Includes custom POIs such as the Airservices Australia compound, landside hotels, carparks, Maccas and Mercedes-Benz dealership with helipad
• Entire airport optimised with LODs
• Realistic taxiway lighting with each taxi light at its proper location and direction
• 155 custom-made taxi signs
• More than 12,000 (!) accurately placed cars landside (optimized for performance and optional)
• More than 1400 accurately placed streetlights
• Elevated roadways – among them the new ones currently under construction and planning

How to get the nool VDGS working?
Apparently V1.0.4 is out, any chance of us getting it on here?
I download and put in community folder but MSFS in game won’t recognise. Only happens with YBBN and YMML. Any fixes?
Silly Question but does this go in the community folder or the Orbx folder.I tried the Orbx folder but it wouldn’t show up there in orbx central.Just Wondering.Cheers.
Always community folder unless otherwise stated.
Thank you SimPlaza! Great addons as usual!
doesn’t work, shows up as installed on community manager but does not replace the airport in the sim.
Any way of making the jetways/aero bridges work?
Those who complain about FPS killer. Yes it is, but you can improve performance by disabling some features. I went from slideshow to decent framerate by disabling the people and parked vehicles. Depending on your system, you can probably get good performance by disabling the FPS hungry stuff, especially stuff that is on “landside” which isn’t really important unless you are hovering around with drone cam or helicopter.
fps killer
Pretty detailed scenery, but its an FPS killer. Very poorly optimized!
Typical of ORBX stuff really. YBBN was also awful at the beginning.
Thank you simplaza so nice airport
The 6.7 gigabytes this airport take up is more than FSX with the Acceleration pack and all updates! Orbx needs to learn from iniBuilds, Pyreegue and UK2000 how to optimize their scenery. I mean this is downright embarrassing.
extremely laggy, deleted it in no time!
amazing thanks.
Great
my mummy sophie told me that this is grate addon
They did everything right but they missed the ball on the ground textures. All the markings look way too new and fresh. I don’t understand why the f simple things like these up.
The real ones look pretty new too
You do know that Melbourne Airport is undergoing major upgrades and maintenance, right? New and fresh ground markings are a part of it and an indicator that the airport is well maintained. And that’s actually a good thing.
Have you ever had that feeling of tucking into a freshly washed and clean bed sheets? This is how it feels looking at those fresh ground markings. So good…
thanks once again !
Nice one simplaza love you
