Plymouth Sound and City offers you a highly detailed representation of Plymouth in photographic quality. Whether you’re slope-soaring the coastal cliffs, on approach to EGHD using ILS, or anything in between, this is the place to be for a truly immersive experience. It’s about as close as it gets to the real thing!
Featuring realistic night-lighting and authentic approach lights that run through … read morethe industrial estate! Plymouth Sound And City has full collision detection on all models throughout the add-on. If you’re into bush-flying there are so many challenges within this for short takeoff and landings. A dynamic level of detail system that delivers huge amounts of detail at the best FPS.
This scenery add-on is a massive 40 square miles in size, split into two zones – Plymouth Sound and Plymouth city. The former hosts a grass strip (Pipers Field) Located between Leekbed and Jennycliff bays. With an exciting takeoff high above the cliffs and into the prevailing south westerlies, Pipers Field is the perfect strip for all small aircraft upto a Twin Otter.
Plymouth Airport (EGHD) is located to the north of the city with a runway length of approximately 3800ft. Featuring working ILS and PAPI on runway 31. This approach is extreamly realistic both visually and in its authentic feel for a small city airport. The buildings have been modelled true to their originals to give you an accurate view as you enter the taxi way.
The marinas are a treat to fly over, for sure, and a low flight down the Tamar, passing by Devonport, is a must. If you fly helicopters, the breakwater fort has a heli pad just waiting for you! Or even the breakwater itself! There’s way too much to mention here. All I can say is that there’s a lot going on in this.

in my case with this addon I get CTD
Though it does look great from the air, it is basically photogrammetry which doesn’t look any better than the free stuff.
The ground imagery looks very good too, which also the Google maps mod does. I like it but it’s not worth that many GBs of space.
do you mean the google maps mod from modsfire? idk if i should get it and if it will cause me any problems, would you recommend getting it(i dont really care about how much space it takes)
Haven’t tried this but Superspud has activated the airport in his freeware scenery and John Lovell has done a decent freeware of Plymouth in full photogrammetry. I don’t know how much better this scenery will be.
Superspuds EGHD stopped working following a sim update a while back, which was a shame. Wasn’t aware of the other freeware, so just gave it a go but it didn’t look great to be honest. Hoe area and seafront in particular. That said, this payware is a total FPS killer and the seafront/hoe still doesn’t look particularly great, so their all in the bin!
Off to Hawaii instead to buzz the natives in my MD500E!
Is there a way to maybe use other people work with this so it can be activated within the sim. But it won’t fix the flight plan flying into this airport.
Installed this how ever on sim brief EGHD isn’t showing as a valid airport ?
IRL it’s closed since 2011 unfortunately
It’s been in the news a bit recently. The council are keen to see it officially re-opened, although nothing concrete yet. Trouble is they sold the land when it closed and are having trouble buying it back.
My home town. Gotta give this one a try. Thanks SP.
I’ve been waiting for this one. Thank you so much.
