Air Zermatt was founded in 1965.

Its fleet consists of modern helicopters, equipped according to their purpose. Thanks to Air Zermatt, modern alpine rescue was born. It was here that the longline (rock wall rescue) and the tripod (crevasse rescue) were developed and perfected.

    Fun story about this heliport. My dad was working at Zermatt in the 70’s and they would sneak booze across the Italian border by skis. One of his friends was caught by border guards at the top of the mountain, refused to hand over the booze and drank a bunch of the hard liquor and got so inebriated that they had to call in a helicopter from this heliport to take him back to town. My dad and his friends threw a fundraiser / drinking party to raise money to pay off his helicopter bill.

    I installed this but doesn’t work, the heli starts in a patch of grass, no cement, no buildings.
