In 2030 65% of the North Sea will be an industrial zone. Over 70% of the electricity for countries surrounding the North Sea will be generated by the massive offshore wind parks. The North Sea is the biggest work site on the planet, where ships costing billions of dollars place and remove wind turbines and platforms. Thousands of people work there in often atrocious conditions. What used to be an … read more‘empty’ sea is now filled with platforms, wind farms and other structures. Aviation plays a huge role in this developing industry. Over 90% of European helicopter traffic is dedicated to the offshore industry.

That is why we believe a scenery covering the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish sea makes sense. With the simulator fully supporting helicopters, a new territory to explore is available!

All the objects are placed in exactly the correct position using databases collected over many months. The ships are all located where they were on Jan 20, 2022, at 12:00 GMT. This means that every ship is in a ‘logical’ position. So, a cargo ship could be at an anchorage waiting for a port dock to become available, a small fishing vessel going to its fishing ground or a construction ship placing pylons for new wind turbines.

Features:

• Over a billion polygons
• Fully usable crew boat (designed to be used with outside view only)
• 388 new heliports
• 196 new airports (ICAO codes)
• 78 new NDB stations
• 741 new ships with helideck or winch locations
• 72 new substations (part of a wind park) helideck
• All objects with extensive LOD support, emissive and dynamic lights
• Most objects will have some form of animation

  1. Version 1.2.1

    • Cargo ship removed from Troon harbor

    Version 1.2.0:

    • Entrance to Pistoolhaven marked with emissive lights
    • Terrain raised at heliport Maasvklate
    1. By default only the default msfs heli’s work on the new pads.

There is a work around if you are comfortable to manually edit the aircraft, cfg file:

In aircraft.cfg the ui_typerole that in H145 is “Helicopter” needs to be set to “Rotorcraft” for spawning on helipads

Beware that in an aircraft.cfg there may be multiple ui_typerole, all of them shall be changed.

***ATTENTION*** backup the original aircraft.cfg so that you can replace in case something goes wrong

Note that the helicopters don’t ‘snap’ to the pad when you click the ‘H’ icon in the map for a helipad.. You need to manually select the little heliport dot instead. This only applies to a dedicated heliport, not airports with a heliport.

      Hope this helps

  2. You can sail the boat that comes with it and it becomes Microsoft Sailing Simulator. I did a trip from Southampton to the Isle of Wight. Is a verre nice.

  3. Captain Chopper Pilot

Nice to have all the extra landing platforms for chopper activities.
The static ships with artificial wakes are a bit naff though. Would have preferred they left them out entirely (unless at anchor/docked) or give them routes to follow, as seafront have done with theirs.

  4. For thos ethat asked. I am running a couple of the baot mods plus this one, all good, nice balance of ship traffic, no real conflicts the North sea is busy now but balanced.

The rigs and extranew ships look awesome BTW enjoy thanks SP.

  5. Well it would appear (according to the manual) that Seafront Sims ships may be an issue unfortunately giving that not only updates coming for current releases but new stuff as well. Seems a decision 1 may have to make……

    1. Ships in this one are static. so no conflict per say, I beleive, but it may not look great to have both static and moving ships if you use any other marine traffic addons.

  6. anyone who got this please let me know how this runs….any studder or framerate problems i should be aware of ? would aappreciate the feedback

    1. download and check for yourself dude. Its free and you still want to someone run and tell you how it run on a machine thats not yours?

    2. Yes, if you run it on an android phone you will get stuttering.

What sort of an unanswerable question is that without anyone having a clue what your setup is ?

    1. It is working fine for me. The only problem I am seeing so far is that most of the oil rig’s helipads are pink. The large platform helipads are correct (green textured).
