Thank you as always, SP! Love these handcrafted little islands. Wasn’t there a fuel-starved Dash-8 crash off the coast sometime? Or was that LMP?
I think you’re thinking of Tuninter 1153, which ditched pretty much in between Palermo and the beautiful island of Ustica. I believe it was an ATR-72, as well. Good memory!
It was indeed a tunisair atr and it starved because they installed the wrong fuel indicators from the smaller version.
pilots thought they had fuel but the indication was wrong and nobody took care of checking how much fuel had been transferred to the plane before the return trip.
